Why Locals Love McDonald's
Nestled in the scenic surroundings of Sitka, Alaska, McDonald’s at 913 Halibut Point Rd offers a familiar taste of global fast-food comfort infused with local charm. As a fast food, breakfast, coffee, hamburger, and sandwich restaurant all rolled into one, this McDonald's location effortlessly caters to cravings from early morning to late afternoon.
The menu here showcases a delightful range of classic favorites that go beyond the standard. Start your day with their perfectly golden hash browns—crispy on the outside, tender within—that pair wonderfully with a steaming McCafé® coffee to awaken the senses. Fans of crispy snacks will find the World Famous Fries® irresistible, boasting a golden crunch and fluffy potato interior made from premium Russet Burbank and Shepody potatoes, all while zero grams of trans fat keep things guilt-free. For a sweeter finish, their McCafé® chocolate and strawberry shakes provide creamy indulgence with a nostalgic twist, capped with whipped topping for that extra creamy delight.
The beverage selection is designed to complement every bite, featuring beloved choices like classic Coca-Cola®, Diet Coke® for a lighter sip, Sprite®, and even the unique flavor of Dr. Pepper®, offered in a variety of sizes to suit any thirst.
Dining at this McDonald’s provides a uniquely Alaskan experience. Michael Roper’s glowing review perfectly captures the atmosphere: waterfront seating overlooking Sitka’s natural beauty, complete with the extraordinary sight of eagles soaring and fishing nearby. There’s an undeniable sense of calm and connection to the outdoors as you enjoy your meal. The staff here have been praised for their friendly and attentive service, making each visit comfortable and welcoming—even in smaller, quieter moments, as Clark Dorer noted.
While some visitors mention that larger orders might take a little longer, and the pace can reflect the size and flow of the local crowd, this only adds to the authentic, small-town charm. The bright, clean facilities and consistent food quality hint at a place well-loved by locals and visitors alike.
Whether you’re fueling up for a day of exploring Sitka’s breathtaking landscapes or seeking a quick, satisfying meal with views that rival the food itself, McDonald’s on Halibut Point Road stands out as a reliable and pleasantly surprising stop. From the crispy hashbrowns to the sweet swirls of McCafé® shakes, this location offers more than just fast food—it offers a delicious, inviting pause in your Alaskan journey.

First rule of McDonald's: always check your bag before you leave. I am fond of our McDonald's in our little town. The workers are friendly and the service is better than average.

Best McDonald's in the world. Waterfront outside seating. 12 eagles in view from our table. 1 caught 2 fish from a tree above the parking lot while we ate.

Well it took a long time to get there. I was late to my meeting in Japan and I decided to stop here on the kayak ride over. Service was good seeing as how I was their only customer. Food was a little old I wouldn't imagine that they get enough business to get more than one food delivery. It smelled like a MacDonald's should and the bathrooms were nice until I got there. I was holding it for awhile (from LA). The person running it actually lives there. My GPS had a hard time finding it so it was difficult to locate in the middle of the ocean. Thankfully I took an astronomy class and know directions thanks to stars. Good luck other McDonald's enthusiasts it was surprisingly average. Not sure what kind of farm this McDonald had.

Just had to have a burger and fries. It's so clean and friendly here! Best view in entire USA. Hey, tour bus drivers stop bad mouthing our McDonald's. The prices are decent and nobody is ending up at the ER across the street.
